Out of all the Kardashian sisters, if there’s one who’s always known for her matcha tea, makeout sessions with her husband, and her ‘healthy lifestyle’, it’s the eldest one of the clan – Kourtney Kardashian Barker. So, when she launched her lifestyle website, Poosh, in 2019, it came as no surprise. And when she ventured into supplements, claiming to promote a healthy lifestyle, she felt it was right up her alley.
However, despite the monetary success of her brand, Lemme has faced significant criticism from experts due to its extravagant claims about the benefits of the supplements, and the fact that her products are not FDA-approved.
The latest supplement to come under fire is Lemme’s GLP-1 Daily.
Before we tell you about the natural Ozempic, let us tell you what Ozempic is and how it actually works.
Now back to this, GLP-1 hormone, which is the star of the drug. How does it work? In simple terms, the longer it is there in your body, the more you will feel satiated.
Hence, when Kourtney launched her own version of the weight-loss supplement, she named it Lemme GLP-1 and people on the internet started calling it the ‘natural ozempic’.
“Since Lemme’s launch, we’ve heard from thousands of you looking for a natural GLP-1 solution without side effects. That’s why we formulated Lemme GLP-1 Daily,” Lemme’s Instagram post says.
Kourtney’s Lemme GLP-1 Daily claims to be all-natural (of course) and comes with a price tag of Rs 7,500 for 30 capsules. Here’s the list of ingredients:
According to Lemme’s website, its GLP-1 supplement can:
Boost GLP-1 production, reduce hunger and cravings, promote fat reduction, and support healthy blood sugar levels. It also claims that it aids in healthy weight management.

The company has advised taking these supplements with food twice a day to help support your weight management goals.
According to Lemme: In the first one to two months, it will reduce hunger; by the third month, it will increase GLP-1 levels; and by six months, it will contribute to ‘healthy weight management’.
The company also says that this product does not have any side effects since it is made from all-natural products.
India Today analysed the main ingredients of the supplement and spoke to various experts and all of them seem to agree that even though the product might help in some form of weight management, there’s no connection between the ingredients and GLP-1 hormone.
Let us break down the main ingredients one by one.
Dr Tushar Tayal, a consultant of Internal Medicine at CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram, explains that Eriomin is an extract from lemon that targets blood sugar regulation.
He mentions that a clinical study published by the National Institutes of Health showed that Eriomin may help in reducing fasting blood glucose levels and improving insulin sensitivity, which supports the claim of helping maintain blood sugar levels in a normal range.

“However, there’s less direct evidence supporting fat reduction and increasing GLP-1,” says Dr Tayal.
Another main ingredient in the Lemme GLP-1 is Supresa, which comes from saffron. Debjani Gupta, a nutritionist and wellness expert, says that Supresa is a clinically studied, fast-acting ingredient that can enhance any weight management diet.

“Derived from the flowers of a special cultivar of Crocus sativus (saffron), Supresa offers a unique approach to weight loss support by enhancing the neurotransmitter serotonin and reducing the desire to snack between meals,” says Debjani.
However, she also mentions that there is no evidence linking saffron with increased GLP-1 levels.
Dr Tayal says that Morosil is rich in anthocyanins, which are antioxidants, and some studies suggest that Morosil can aid in fat reduction and weight management by regulating fat metabolism and possibly reducing the size of fat cells.
“Again, there is no strong evidence linking Morosil with increased GLP-1 levels,” remarks Dr Tayal.
Dr Tayal concludes that Kourtney’s newly launched supplement may help in reducing food cravings and may aid in weight loss, but there is no substantial evidence that it will help increase GLP-1 hormone.
Debjani further says that while the individual ingredients in Lemme GLP-1 Daily seem safe and are naturally derived, there are no studies on the “specific combination of all three ingredients”.
She mentions that it can cause some adverse effects including gastrointestinal distress like diarrhoea, gas and bloating.
“There are no studies or research papers that validate the product scientifically, Lemme GLP-1 Daily is an over-the-counter supplement that lacks the same level of scientific validation as prescription GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy,” she adds.
Dr Vaishali Naik, an endocrinologist at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai says, “One should not use any supplements mindlessly as there is no data or proof available regarding their safety and efficacy or any side effects they can produce.”
She further adds that it is not known whether the supplement is extensively studied and expert-approved or recommended as safe to be used by people.
“Taking supplements mindlessly can lead to irreversible side effects. It is better to exercise caution and refrain from trying any supplement on your own. Make sure to consult the doctor who will decide the appropriate treatment plan for you based on the overall health assessment. Weight loss will require adopting a well-balanced lifestyle inclusive of a nutritious diet, exercise, and stress management strategies,” Dr Naik concludes.
